Open Farms

Who’s Your Farmer?
The National Farmers Union Ontario Local 316 thinks it is important for you to know and in the years 2010, 2011 and 2012 it conducted the Open Farms tour to help you find out "Who's your Farmer?".

Open Farms was an event showcasing the diversity of agricultural products in our region.  It offered a fantastic opportunity for everyone, young and old, to enjoy the vibrant countryside of South Eastern Ontario during the height of the harvest season. It allowed people to discover first-hand what it means to be a farmer.

The tour was all about making connections with the faces and geography associated with the local food you eat. Getting to know our local producers and choosing their products benefits us all.  The farms were in and around the Kingston area and spanned between Tamworth to the west and Lyndhurst to the east.

The event also recieved sponsorship from The Cooperators insurance and FCC Farm Credit Canada.
